Sarasota RV Center History

Sarasota RV Center had it’s beginnings in a partnership between Howard Schmucker and another gentleman. The two teamed up to sell used RV’s and used cars. They shared the same location for some time until the other gentleman, in 1981, decided to move to Tennessee.

At that time, Howard decided to buy out the other gentleman’s share in the company. He then dropped the name they were using and changed it to Sarasota RV Center. He also phased out the car dealership to make Sarasota RV Center specialize in primarily used RV’s.

Used RV Dealership in NC

Over ten years ago, Howard came across a great opportunity to team up with a campground owner in North Carolina to open up another location. The union has proven quite profitable and continues to this day.

Howard has many years of experience in the manufacturing and sales of recreational vehicles. He started off in the Elkhart, Indiana area working for several RV manufacturers like Holiday Rambler, Yellowstone, Skyline, Cobra, Richardson Homes and Monitor to name some. With these companies he worked on RV’s from top to bottom and hitch to bumper, now giving him a great understanding of the value of used RV’s.

Then after moving to Florida, he worked for an RV Dealer and learned the industry from a sales perspective. He learned the key to selling was listening to the customer, showing them what they were looking for and giving them an honest evaluation of the RV’s. This is the same approach he takes today at Sarasota RV Center.
